Rexroad said sustainability is playing an increasingly central role in investment decisions at BlackRock.

John Kite, chairman and CEO of Kite Realty Group Trust (NYSE: KRG), participated in a video interview at Nareit’s REITworld: 2018 Annual Conference in San Francisco.

While 80 percent of Kite Realty’s annualized base rent is derived from community, neighborhood, and lifestyle centers, Kite noted that the company is more focused on the actual real estate rather than the building product. “The real estate flexibility is really important to us,” he said.

Kimco Eyeing Potential to Unlock Embedded Value in Sears/Kmart Locations

Conor Flynn, CEO of Kimco Realty Corp. (NYSE: KIM), participated in a video interview at Nareit’s REITworld: 2018 Annual Conference in San Francisco.

Flynn discussed Kimco’s exposure to Sears and the ramifications of the retailer’s bankruptcy filing. Kimco currently has 14 Sears/Kmart locations with market leases that can be as much as 500 percent below market value, he said. The locations are “great areas that have been calling out for redevelopment.”

Digital Realty Sees Solid Growth Potential in Latin America Market

Bill Stein, president and CEO of Digital Realty (NYSE: DLR), participated in a video interview at Nareit’s REITworld: 2018 Annual Conference in San Francisco.

Stein discussed the REIT’s recent entry into Latin America via its acquisition of Ascenty. He noted that Ascenty is the largest data center provider in Latin America, with a 30 percent market share in Brazil.

QTS Realty Trust Calls 5G a “Unique Opportunity” for Data Centers

Chad Williams, chairman and CEO of QTS Realty Trust (NYSE: QTS), participated in a video interview at Nareit’s REITworld: 2018 Annual Conference in San Francisco.

Williams called the advent of 5G a “unique opportunity” for all data centers to take on more content.

“[We’ll be able to] push it and distribute it in a way that works for more and more creativity, and innovation and technology,” he said, adding that technology has shown that people innovate around its capabilities.

Clipper Realty “Constantly Looking” to Increase New York Footprint

David Bistricer, founder, co-chairman, and CEO of Clipper Realty Inc. (NYSE: CLPR), participated in a video interview at Nareit’s REITworld: 2018 Annual Conference in San Francisco.

Clipper has a diversified portfolio of properties across Manhattan, Tribeca, and Brooklyn, and Bistricer called New York a “vibrant city.”

“We think it’s one of the best cities to be an investor of real estate in. It has proven itself to survive all of the downturns we’ve seen over the past decade,” he said.

Apple Hospitality REIT Says Hyatt Brand Offers Additional Investment Opportunities

Krissy Gathright, executive vice president and COO of Apple Hospitality REIT (NYSE: APLE), participated in a video interview at Nareit’s REITworld: 2018 Annual Conference in San Francisco.

Apple Hospitality recently announced plans to extend its portfolio beyond Hilton and Marriott to include the Hyatt brand. Gathright said the inclusion of Hyatt offers additional investment opportunities.
